Expert Determination Case Studies

And Warring Doctors

Chris mediated a doctor’s partnership dispute where the parties were only able to agree on principles. So they then appointed him as ED to determine the exact amount due one to the other. This therefore used two dispute resolution methods, showing the strength of the choice Chris can offer to parties in dispute.

As one of only a handful of chartered accountants who do EDs, Chris sat on the Forensic committee of ICAEW for many years, and on its ED sub-committee, where we issued recommended rules based on those of The Academy of Experts.

Chris was one of the first five to be accredited as an ED by The Academy of Experts, where he now acts as an examiner for new applicants for accreditation.

Hopefully, the above case studies show how Chris uses his expertise to provide creative solutions to each case.

Chris was able to place all parties at ease in what was a very tense mediation with parties entrenched in their respective positions. Respect was given to all and the correct amount of appropriately placed humour which is essential in cases like this. Chris was able to very much think outside the box and came up with innovative solutions to the problems at hand.
